Anything that swims along the First Coast
At First Coast Surf Fishing, we are beyond passionate, practically obsessed. We started our business to share our love for the ocean and take you guys along for the experience of chasing some of the largest and tastiest fish in our coastal waters.
From the Florida-Georgia line, all the way down to Daytona is considered the "First Coast". We are based out of Jacksonville, but can run trips anywhere in the state! From the Gulf of Mexico down the entire East Coast, FCSF guide Owen Prior knows the surf better than 99% of the rest. You name it, we catch it!
Many people ask, "You run guided trips without a boat?" The answer is yes, simply because there is something so much sweeter about landing the fish of your dreams right where you swim, and I do not own a boat lol. There is no limit to the number of guests which is also a plus since it's from the beach. Bring as many friends and family as you want to cut down on the price!
Anything that swims along the beach is possible with First Coast Surf Fishing. There is not a fish that lurks the surf zone or beyond that cannot be enticed into eating one of our baits. Conditions, tide, and time of year are all factors, but you name it we will catch it. The "Extreme Surf Fishing" trips will be mostly surf casting targeting a variety of smaller fish for food and fun, but talk to Owen ahead of time and we can work out a way to get it all in one. (This includes manageable sharks and bigger predatory species of fish). The LBSF (Land-Based Shark Fishing) trips will be primarily focused on bait deployment via drone and kayak, as well as surf casting for sharks and other predatory species of fish. This will REQUIRE a Land-Based shark fishing permit as well as a Florida fishing license through FWC. Contact us and we will help set you up!
Primarily focused on surf casting, FCSF will target your desired species for catch and release or for table fare. Contact head guide Owen and discuss what you would like to catch, and he will do his best to make it happen! Northeast FL has world renown surf fishing and holds a plethora of different species you can target. Whether its casting in the surf or even deploying a few bigger baits via drone or kayak, you never know what will eat! Common species include: Tarpon, Black Drum, Bluefish, Flounder, Whiting, Jack Crevalle, Spotted Seatrout, Pompano, Redfish, Blacktip Shark, Bull Shark, Larger Sharks, Stingray, Spanish Mackerel, Ladyfish and more... Trips vary upon time, tide, conditions, and location.
LBSF is kind of like catfishing except much more intense, and there's a few more rules you must follow. The ability to reel in these magnificent creatures right from the sand is something you'd have to experience to be able to explain. Granted it takes a lot of patience and effort, but when the right one swims by and decides they're hungry, in the blink of an eye you could be dealing with national geographic in the flesh. A fish pulling with that much strength at the end of your line is nothing but pure adrenaline and a feeling like no other. If you want to experience a true monster from the sand, these trips are for you!
There is now a Florida Shore-Based Shark Fishing Permit you must complete prior to the day of your trip if you wish to reel in a shark. There are no exceptions if you plan on getting in on the action (reeling in). Contact Owen and he will send you the links via email or text to help complete your registration. When dealing with these fish there are many regulations regarding the various species and tactics used to target. It is great information for all and helps keep us and the sharks safe.
